Our latest renovation: in building Acapulco I

Acapulco I building, in Marina d’Or, is one of the first that was built in this area. Perhaps for that reason, it’s one of the most striking once renovated.

Our owners had recently bought the apartment and although they wanted to renovate it, they weren't clear on the finishes yet. Once chosen, we got to work to offer them a kitchen design based on their specifications. The result is impressive: a small, gloomy, and old kitchen transformed into one with smooth, clean lines, high contrast, and high-quality appliances.

Regarding the bathrooms, we've moved from the more traditional bathroom typical of this type of building to a modern, clean bathroom with neat finishes and great functionality.

Let's look at the photos to see the changes:

The kitchen

In the kitchen, several elements have been changed. For instance, the furniture has been replaced with new pieces lacquered in white on the doors and black on the inside. The worktop has also been changed to a Dekton stone model, of mineral origin, combining quartz, glass, and porcelain to achieve such a characteristic and personality-filled result.

The wall tiles were replaced with white ones to make the kitchen brighter and appear larger visually.

This area has also been worked on by opening up the space of the old doorway, creating a wider and more open passageway to the entrance. In this way, although it is not an open-plan kitchen, it does give a feeling of spaciousness in comparison to the old one.

Regarding appliances, not only have the old ones been replaced with more modern and feature-rich models, but a dishwasher has also been added. In the original kitchen, there was no space for this item, and considering that our clients didn't use the oven much, it has been removed from the project to create more storage space. To top it all off, the microwave also includes a much smaller oven version, but it's been mounted to make use of the countertop food preparation area and not lose that space.

The original ceramic hob in the kitchen has been replaced with a white induction ceramic hob, which makes it stand out and blend in and balance the other whites and blacks in the room.

And although it's not visible in the images, the location of the water heater has been changed: it's no longer on top of the kitchen next to the window. It has been moved to the corner next to the sink, as it's a difficult-to-access and underutilised space. This way, a complete storage unit has been gained at the top, while an electric water heater is now fully protected from moisture in the lower area.

A built-in sink has also been installed, which makes cleaning much easier and is also much more resistant to moisture, as it prevents water or food from getting trapped in the joints, as happens with traditional sinks.

And to finish, the entire kitchen floor has been changed. A porcelain tile model with mosaic and warm tones has been chosen for this, adding a homely touch and also standing out from the rest of the kitchen due to its cooler, monochromatic tones.

A winning combination, no doubt.

2. The second bathroom

With a small, warmly toned secondary bathroom, its owners decided to do the opposite, and changed not only the sanitary ware and shower, but also the accessories and the wall and floor tiles.

The shower tray was changed from a round one to a square one, which gives more space. Furthermore, the tray is thinner, so it doesn't create such a high step, making it more comfortable to use. The shower screen consists of two fixed parts and two sliding doors with silver finishes, matching the new taps.

The toilet was also modified to a model with softer lines, which better suited the type of bathroom they were looking for. For this reason, the washbasin, vanity unit and tap have also been modified. In addition, instead of using a wall-mounted mirror, a mirror with integrated LED lighting and Bluetooth radio has been used. Due to the limited use they would have for it, the bidet was removed.

As for the tiles, a matte grey model from the Saloni brand has been used, which was applied to both the walls and the floor. This way, uniformity in the tones and finishes is given to the entire bathroom.

3. The main bathroom

In the main bathroom, with the same warm tones as the previous bathroom, they also opted for a radical change. Large, uniformly coloured tiles on the floor and walls were used to give it homogeneity and continuity. Just as in the previous bathroom, the sanitary ware and accessories were replaced with more up-to-date models.

The bathtub was replaced with a much more elegant shower tray, and the shower curtain was substituted with a fixed transparent screen.

Finally, the sink, vanity unit and tap have also been modified. In addition, instead of using a mirror with a wall light, a mirror with built-in LED lighting and Bluetooth radio has been used. Due to the lack of use it would receive, the bidet has been removed.

As for the tiles, the same matt grey model by the brand Saloni has been used in the secondary bathroom, applied to both the walls and the floor.
